I had the pleasure of seeing The Breeders last night.
They sounded great
Happy 40th B-day, CD.
The last CD I bought was a release of Black Flag’s “My War”. That was back in late 2000. Yikes!
I bought one a couple of weeks ago… Regina Spektor’s new one… I still like physical media.
Yup, if you don’t have physical media, you don’t own it.
Which is why you can only listen to half the songs from Thomas Dolby’s The Golden Age of Wireless and none of the songs on Ass Ponys Electric Rock Music on Spotify.
There were lots of groups at the time fusing rock/metal and rap to some level. Of course there was Faith no More, RHCP, and Rage as mentioned earlier but there was also Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Biohazard, and Body Count among many others. And then Nu Metal spun off and ruined it for everybody.
I keep the “If I were a Carpenter” CD in my truck. This song and the Cranberries are probably the twe best songs in the collection.
I wonder if youtube playlists link here?
ETA: looks like they do.
Yup. That soundtrack really represented the moment the rap-metal genre was galvanized.
It’s so weird to hear Matt Berry not doing the Matt Berry voice…
One of the great things about travel is getting to discover music that you would never have a chance to hear otherwise, like this Punjabi banger that I heard in Dubai.
