I’m hoping not even the first. Let it die before it airs.

Harmon has to know how stupid and dangerous NFTs are. I hope he’s devised some scheme that screws over the “investors” while keeping himself out of any courtrooms.

I watched that trailer and could not tell if it was a parody of a really stupid concept or an actual really stupid concept. I’m not sure if the people who made it know either. Have we arrived at post-postmodernism?

I went to the Krapopolis panel at SD Comic-Con last week and was seated behind the Bento Box staff, which is the animation studio responsible for this. During the preview clips, they were laughing their asses off, but they were almost the only ones. There was a lot of uncomfortable silence from the rest of the crowd.
Some of the post-panel questions were about the NFT aspect of the show. Dan Harmon and the others on the panel seemed to be just as confused and lost about what the point of it was as the audience, which is perhaps a good sign. The first episode will air in November and the rest of the season in 2023, but I’m not optimistic that it’s going to be in a watchable state even by then.

There have been a few “NFT Cartoons” out there. And they are all terrible from what I understand.

Was that commercial supposed to appeal to someone? I mean he said literally not a single thing I would consider a reason to want to watch that show, let alone spend a real nickel on their pump-and-dump scam that’s selling “receipts” for art.

Maybe there’s still a sub-culture of techbros that they’re hoping to swindle; people who didn’t watch their “millions” evaporate when coinbase tanked, and didn’t have their ape receipts stolen. Or maybe they’re just being set up to be mocked (which could be Dan Harmon’s real plan.) But nothing in that commercial seemed like it was intended to attract anyone.

Imagine making a cartoon where the story was influenced by the audience buying gold bars or Raytheon stocks from you. It would be considered an insane concept.

This honestly sounds like a joke that could be in a Rick & Morty episode, what the hell.

On the whole though, is adult animation doing poorly? I was under the impression that it had a lot going for it. I recently watched the excellent Tuca & Berdy, and I don’t think something like that would’ve been made a few years ago.

It’s just so painful to watch people still jumping on this fad with these soulless cash grabs.
