…
If Lynch fans have not seen it, I recommend Maggie Mae Fish’s podcast with Adam Ganser… Here’s the trailer…
Her video about Twin Peaks is also very good…
All of these include spoilers, obviously…
Such a shame, though it is a good reminder to others to quit smoking. It is also a bummer to hear that his last few project ideas don’t look like they will ever get made. Some day i hope.
netflix is a fuck.
I’ve never understood smoking. I tried it a handful of times when I was a teen and decided it’s an acquired taste that’s not worth acquiring.
Oh… I was hoping it would be about boopable snoots.
the legendary cult-movie director, whose masterpieces include Eraserhead , Mulholland Drive , Blue Velvet , and the Twin Peaks series
I know that everyone loves to hate on Lynch’s Dune but there are still some things I like about that version even better than the new movies such as the wild, visually distinct set and costume design. His contributions to the screen will be missed.
“Old-fashioned fairy tales are considered groaners: apparently, people don’t want to see them. It’s a different world now, and it’s easier to say no than to say yes.”
Translation: If it’s not a remake or a sequel (bonus points for a legacy sequel), it’s not worth making.
You are not alone. I loved his vision of Dune. The new ones are so bland looking.
I guess we’ll never get that Season 4 of Twin Peaks.
Just last week watched The Straight Story and was totally amazed at how it was both an unmistakable Disney Movie and also unmistakably made by David Lynch. Beautiful.
That podcast is such a dilemma for me: I love Maggie Mae Fish but can’t stand Lynch
If your interested in film in general, it’s worth a watch, even if you’re not a Lynch fan. They are fans, but they do a good job of picking apart his signature style, his methods for filmmaking, what they do and don’t like, etc. They are going from the least lynchian film to the most, so they start with The Straight Story… Dune is no. 3.
That’s good to know, thanks. Maybe I’ll give it a try!
They are fans (fyi), but I think they do a fair job of both exploring what they like about his work, and what doesn’t work… It’s a fun podcast…
