Even when I was an ancap I’ve always hated how the PoW scheme wasted energy. Proof of Stake is less costly and honestly PoW doesn’t give you that much more security from counterfeiting for the effort. I remember when these things were being proposed as a way to tackle spam on email servers. Thankfully that never was adopted.
