I have partied with Emily, she’s lovely. Wasn’t at her place though so I have yet to meet Bagpuss and the rest.

There can’t be a British person around my age who isn’t a fan of at least one of Firmin’s shows, Bagpuss and The Clangers being my favourites; that man was definitely a positive influence on the world.

I’ve just found the Clangers election special too.

I don’t know how accuratly this represents Oliver Postgate’s and Peter Firmin’s political views, but Postgate’s grandfather was George Lansbury, leader of the Labour party and his uncle was Edgar Lansbury, who was the Communist Party of Great Britain mayor of Poplar (and father of Angela Lansbury).
