I said I have an unnatural fear of the desert, pretty much a phobia. Since I live in Ohio, it’s no big deal to have a desert phobia, but all the logic in the world won’t talk me out of it.

Death Valley heat causes tourist to become confused (…and then dies from hyperthermia)
no need for the death valley in the not-too-distant-future for something like this to happen at scale (excuse my cynicism);
The WMO has also reported that at least 10 countries have recorded temperatures above 50C so far this year (2024).
