Democrat Tulsi Gabbard wins coveted David Duke endorsement

Again, snark and sarcasm are what the authors specialize in, Rob especially.

I saw the title as more of a big dis on David Duke, for offering what no sane public figure wants, than a conscious ploy to piss off potential Gabbard supporters.

It’s one thing to actively support a candidate, it’s another to unrealistically prop them up on a towering pedestal where they are held “above and beyond” any legit criticism.

If you didn’t know what Trump was by then… thoughts and prayers for you 'cause I got nothing that can help you!

Absolutely not, and I agree economic and social justice are not separate. Police violence enrages me on a daily basis, but hadn’t been discussed thus far.

More war is not better, though, and HRC was an obvious proponent of more war. Based on the last few decades alone, I don’t believe either party has an interest in ending this.

Pulling out of long standing treaties is also not the way to get less war, but to get more war. He’s done that twice now. A vote for trump was NOT a vote for less war. He lied about that and it’s blatantly obvious that he did.

On top of that, he’s going to wreck the economy and give more cover to racists…

I’m not an HRC fan either, but he is much worse. Clinton has shown that she will be pushed into different policy ideas via public pressure, because like her or not, she’s an actually politician who understands the democratic process means you need to be attentive and moderate your views sometimes. Trump won’t. Ever. He will wreck the world rather than compromise.

Do I regret my vote? YES, even if I consider both parties toxic to the working class and “below” to different degrees. Hindsight is 20/20. There was no way to predict the extent of his actions, but I’d seen enough of HRC to doubt her integrity & intentions. I agree with exiting the TPP, but not the Iran nuke deal or the other absurd withdrawals, statements, decisions–most everything he’s done. He trumpeted only one of those treaty withdrawals before the election that I recall–TPP, the civil rights/free expression details of which turn my stomach. Obama did that, mostly in secrecy, but with support of most dems until details leaked, and even after that.
If trump wrecks the economy, I won’t be surprised, but (IMO) he’s just accelerating the continuous process started with Bush War I and Bush War II. He clearly gives cover to racists. No excuse.
Thanks for the polite discussion–we’re a long way from Tulsi Gabbard now.

I mean, aside from the endless month-after-month wall-to-wall coverage of the fact that he couldn’t go more than 5 minutes without telling 16 different unimpeachably false lies, was getting support from the absolute worst dregs of polite society and giving absolutely laughable dissembling pushback to that support, adopting blatantly fascist campaign slogans, talking out of both sides of his mouth about loving LGBT people while picking one of the most virulently homophobic monsters ever to grace the halls of power as his vice presidential candidate, attempting to brush off bragging about sexually assaulting women as “locker room talk” 3 weeks before the election, openly calling for the complete shutdown of Muslim immigration for completely false and objectively racist reasons, and kicked off his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants rapists and drug-dealers

Sure, I guess aside from all of those things, how could you have possibly known what you’d be getting by voting for a bloated leaking asshole of a human being in an oversized suit and a shitty spray-tan.

You didn’t need hindsight for that. Just a willingness to completely overlook his objectively disqualifying track record of behavior and policy positions that was laid bare for almost 15 months before election day, day after god damn day, because you hated the Democrat.

Really? Because I have not been surprised a single bit by what he’s actually done since he got into office. He’s exactly what he advertised himself to be - a self-important, pompus jackass in over his head and proud of his ignorance, racism, and misogyny. If you could not see that from the time he announced his candidacy, then I really don’t know what to tell you, other than believe people when they tell you who they are the first time.

I remember a play where some politicians were talking about how the public always complained about them, saying they were always trying to screw them over. One of them said, “Let’s pick a town and really screw it over and show them what that would be like.” One of the plans involved completely encircling the town with landfills.

I think maybe people are so disheartened by politicians that they don’t really understand just how bad a really bad leader could be. On the other hand, Michigan republicans seem to have taken only a minor hit from poisoning the state’s seventh largest city, so maybe people know exactly how bad things can be and just don’t mind?

I think it’s a case of NIMBY, primarily by white people who don’t mind if a black kids get poisoned…

There was more than enough information out there to predict that Trump would be a horrible dumpster fire of a president, and plenty of people – including numerous Republicans – who called people’s attention to it.

At the same time, most of what you think you’ve seen of HRC, to make you doubt her integrity and intentions, was and is partisan bullshit and FUD spread by right-wing media and pundits as a part of a decades-long demonization campaign.

In other words, you got played. And what’s much worse, you refuse to admit it, and retreat behind the “pox on both of their houses!” bothsideism.

Flint is one that is absolutely unfathomable to me. When people are voting for the Poison the Water, well:

The reality is that the racial tribalism helps make that possible. Those kids don’t look like their kids, so they don’t care or they think it’s just overblown and some activist playing the race card.

I didn’t say that I voted for Trump. Based on responses here, people make a lot of assumptions about others who disagree with them, offering attacks instead of asking questions.
I offer this: http://www.dh.id.au/InfTest1.htm

If you threw your vote away, then you might as well have.
