Why am I sadly out of likes at the moment?

Should I mention that our main computer has an attached external hard drive for the Time Machine backups and there is an additional external hard drive which is attached about once a month to do a redundant full backup, after which it is returned to the water- and fire-proof lock box along with official papers, passports, etc.?

Or that I cannot believe I am more savvy when it comes to computer security than my Millennials?

Isn’t it the thought that counts?

[/quote]Isn’t that the generation that I keep getting told doesn’t understand that things stay on the web forever unless they take steps to protect their privacy? That said, I’m not sure enough people of any generation understand digital privacy practices, myself included, you know?

(Set up Dropbox, delete old photos, and install it on multiple machines)

How would you feel if I told you I have reservations about using Dropbox for permanent storage, deleting old photos is NOT POSSIBLE for a teenager, and sharing her personal photos on multiple machines is equally a non-starter?

Other than that, would you be surprised to know that Dropbox is already installed on most of our various machines?

That’s a joke right? Deleting something digital? Is that even possible?

Can I suggest something crazy? G+? Personal so only they can look at them? Works automatically? Cloud based, so they might want to periodically do a download to a local encrypted personal drive that they control, but is that so bad?

I mean, we should use it for something, right?

Or, indeed, Flickr, with photos set to private?

Can I first say that I did consider those possibilities? But then, isn’t there a big concern with privacy with those two options? And am I right to be particularly worried about photos of teenage girls possibly getting hacked due to being in the Cloud instead of on a physical drive?

Is this why I (not really knowing anything about it) suggested using a RAID 1 array, so that the external drive is really two, with the drives mirrored?

Oh god! I’m ill!

More fluids.

Isn’t Flickr only 1 GB though?

Did you mean 1 Terabyte?

I think it’s a concern, but no more than their Facebook, where the actual damaging material is kept, no?

I do think the privacy is valid however, but doesn’t one have to trade off something in order to have things work automatically in the cloud? I love local, but then, I’m growed up enough to do something about it myself, you know?

No kidding?

Tell her to use Snapchat to store all her photos?

It’d protect her privacy, right?

Pretty impressive eh? You know I’ve even thought about imaging my hard drive, steganographically encrypting it and backing it up to Flickr in the form of cute cat photos?
