Did you ever want to play questions?

Should it not be a condition from @japhroaig that @brainspore capture suitable video of Boingers (and other attendees) at Weekend of Wonder for use as animated gifs to keep @codinghorror happy?

@xeni slurping loudly, perhaps?

Are we going through some sort of transition, or is this a CDN issue?

Okay, serious question–do I tip at an air bnb?

It depends, which isn’t much help, right? We like to get something nice for the owner, soap, edibles, something small and more “you can give this away easily if it’s not your style” than cash. Aren’t you already paying a cleaning fee and sundry charges?

Sure am, but there is a cost plus world market down the street, perhaps a present from there? (Or just the normal hotel tip?)

Can I say that while I haven’t done the air bnb thing, I would agree with @SteampunkBanana that getting the owner(s) a gift would be a nice thank you?

But one tips in a hotel to the cleaners because they get paid terribly, you’d drop a few dollars on top of the cleaning fee? That’s weird.

I don’t know what this cost plus world market is, but the answer is yes.

Isn’t it Whole Foods but with furniture and expensive imported food? You don’t have any in NY?

I guess we do?

Isn’t Airbnb like the hair stylist who owns their own shop? You tip people who work for the owner of an establishment, but why would you tip the owner? Especially since the usual reason for tipping at a hotel is that the cleaners have the hardest job and the smallest paycheck?

Or have I been a jerk, the few times I’ve stayed in an Airbnb?

It depends? For me it’s about length of stay and how put out the people likely are or if they’ve been helpful. A night’s stay when they’re just crashing over at their boyfriend’s? No tip. A week’s stay where they likely have to bunk in back home with their younger siblings but took the time to get me a local map and explicit instructions on how to use the local trains to get to the airport? A nice bottle of wine.

Also, you don’t tip the owner of the hair stylist? Am I just an over-tipper?

Isn’t it great that we have established that noone really knows the answer? (I’ll leave a decent bottle of red and a thank you note)
