Doesn’t @enso like doing tech support for Firefox?
use chrome?
should we ask @enso about it?
will he remember what thread he is posting in?
Hasn’t my computer been spinning its gears periodically since the last Firefox update? Would @Enso really want to get into it? Doesn’t he have a team of security peeps to manage or something?
Sigh.
Adblock Plus is the notorious tanker of CPUs. Infamous for it.
If you’re running Ublock (and you should be running Ublock Origin…), why are you running Adblock Plus? They effectively do the same thing. Remove adblock plus.
Oh, and go to about:addons and remove all of the extensions that you don’t ACTUALLY need.
90+% of Firefox performance issues are either Flash and other binary plugins or really shitty extensions.
I run with Ublock Origin, Privacy Badget, and HTTPSEverywhere and my CPU doesn’t peg so merely having UBlock Origin shouldn’t peg your CPU unless your machine is ancient.
I guess there was a question in that, should we give him pass?
Shouldn’t I be nice, since I seem to have upset him?
Maybe we should use Chrome instead?
Aren’t I stuck with IE11 and Firefox (whatever version currently passes audits) on my work machine?
Every time someone tells me to fuck off and they’re going to use Chrome now, I heave a sigh of relief.
Most of the Internet couldn’t secure their computer or their browser if their lives depended on it. My job is all triage and management.
Don says this needs to be in the form of a question…
“Why are people so fucking stupid?”
See easy isn’t it?
Do you need a hug?
Restart it? Isn’t that what usually works for me? (Make sure you have “reopen previously open tabs” set.)
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
It’s already off, how can I turn it back on if it’s already off? You tech support guys are the worst, do you even know what you’re talking about!!?
Is it plugged in?
The plug didn’t fit at first but now there’s green smoke coming out the back, what do I do?
