Seems like she probably would have been called out at the front gate at the time she made the spurious claim about her kids’ ages… I wonder if she pushed through the turnstile with her kids and the security folks caught up with her inside the park.
Sad day for all involved.
Indeed. The article states that she was arrested for trespassing, which can include not leaving a place when you are politely asked to.
No one’s a winner here. While this person shouldn’t have lied about their children’s ages, it is also a bad look for Disney to be charging exorbitant prices on kids under 6. I mean, really? Apart from airplanes which are literally butts in seats, most places I’ve been don’t start charging kids until they are somewhere between 6 and 12.
To be fair “luring families with amusement park attractions” is a butts-in-seats business model too.
IIRC Disneyland charges around half price for kids under 10 and is free for kids under 3, which is pretty normal for an amusement park. Base price is obviously crazy expensive there though.
TBH, I only clicked through for the headline “Disneyland arrests mom”.
Surely the police arrested her?
Or have the powers of the Mouse increased exponentially?
Bit harsh, mouseketeers, in any event.
Disneyland has its own security but the Anaheim PD is basically at their beck and call too. According to the KTLA account:
The woman was uncooperative with Disneyland Resort security teams, officials said, and the Anaheim Police Department was later engaged.
Wait until you see the results of the parade!
Yeah, in the vast majority of cases Disney security will just escort people off property if someone is breaking the rules, and that’s the end of it. They won’t physically engage with a guest, and there’s rarely a need because most people just leave when told that they have to leave. Obama told a funny story about the time he was kicked out of Disneyland for smoking on a ride, and how the security folks were intimidating but ultimately polite, saying that he was welcome back anytime:
That would be my guess. Parents trying to pass off older kids as being under 3 is incredibly common, and if there’s any reasonable doubt at all about the age the folks at the turnstiles will let it slide because there’s no requirement to have proof of age for your kids. They certainly wouldn’t send security after someone for this if the front gate person had already made the decision to let them in.
I honestly don’t get the Disney mentality in a case like this.
Okay, the mom is trying it on.
A tiny percentage of people will.
So let her get away with it while the kids are small enough, they’ll have a great time and get addicted to the crack that is all things Disney, and will return time and time again when they can afford the exorbitant prices.
Alternatively, arrest the mom and traumatise the kids - that’ll guarantee a return visit.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out someone doing a little power tripping that isn’t actually pragmatic from the perspective of the bottom line of their distant corporate overlords; but it also wouldn’t be a surprise if this is one of those cases where the only way to maintain the policy is to show that you are in fact serious in sufficiently visible instances; rather than having it become a “disney hack” that children up to 3, 4 if young about it, can be passed off as under-2; and that mouse enforcers can be safely ignored if you are willing to emotionally escalate to the point where things get somewhat uncomfortable.
Presumably if Mouse Corporate though that habit formation through free entry ages 6 and under were more sensible than getting paid past 2 they’d adjust the entry fee schedule accordingly.
@jlw and I where discussing this yesterday and I said I bet she is a pass holder and a repeat offender
I have a couple great rant smileys you (and anyone else!) are more than welcome to steal:
Oh, cheers.
She’s planning on starting her legal action against Disney by sharing her side of the story on TikTok? Sounds legit.
She said she’s planning to share her side of the story on TikTok, which is where the intense scene first went viral, and explain how Disney has been “twisting” the facts of the situation. Police said they arrested Diaz for failing to provide identification and obstructing an officer, but let her off with a citation after she was booked. They have said they suspect it’s at least the fourth time she has tried to sneak her kids into Disneyland.
I guess one takeaway here is “you only get three.”
And the Disney lawyers do not fuck around, so she is delusional if she thinks that a stunt lawsuit against them will leave her better off.
