These probably weren’t even cheap. I didn’t get a picture of them, but they looked like a good German brand.
Apparently this is a problem with polyurethane midsoles, and it’s particularly bad if the shoes aren’t used.
Really thick, waterproof, invulnerable boots.
Mine didn’t wear out, I threw them away after 20 or 30 years because they got moldy.
Modern lightweight boots are better.
