re: The Unknown
That’s about the only time I can think of that he was right about something.
He did forget to mention unknown knowns… those, of course, are things you used to know, but have forgotten.
In any case, he was enjoying himself far too much during those war briefings.
The quote that @sdmikev provided by Jeremy Scahill hits the nail on the head.
No kidding. They, like their pal Rummy, have lived at least 50 years too long.
I still don’t believe it.
But here we are, barely over a dozen years later, in the midst of an ongoing Fascist coup, on numerous fronts.
The signs have been there for years.
Yeah, but it was twisted like a rope, anyway.
Not only did he fuck up our reputation around the world, he fucked up our reputation of ourselves.
Before he came along, I never imagined there were so many people in this country who were not only comfortable with full-blown Fascism, they were eager for it.
And they still are.
Which one?
Rember Iran-Contra?
The Old Man was neck-deep in it; argueably treasonous behaviour on his part.
And his Ambassador to Iraq basically gave the green light to Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait.
Which, of course, we reacted to with outrage, & etc, etc…
As far as Shrub is concerned, he ressurected lots of Nixon’s cabinet & acted according to NeoCon ideology. I still think he allowed the events of 9/11/01 to happen, in order to advance his agenda.
Maybe so, but the mess created by You Know Who is far more imminent.
