Donald Trump indicted

Sir Bedevere: “And how do we know she’s not a very good leader?”…blah blah blah until she gets thrown into the pond. :man_shrugging:

You know… it strikes me that MTG is using this as an opportunity for getting in the news and fundraising… And the press is just helping, honestly…

Israel seems to have the same issue we do.

It goes even beyond that—e.g. the guy who is prosecuting Trump is a county-level elected official

1:24 PM, EST: Donald James Trump was placed under arrest. MTG stopped nothing.

As I wrote elsewhere: Take the 1 from the first number. Add all the numbers you get 7. Put them together and that’s 17.

17th letter of the alphabet? Q. See, this is a master stroke!!! 17th dimensional chess.

Nope. The issue is a somewhat clueless author.

I find it weird that PBS Newshour doesn’t seem to have a livestream… Tuned into NPR who are covering it…

I was living in Singapore when trump arrived for his little jolly with the meth-dealing, human-trafficking dictator of North Korea. My apartment was buzzed by F35s every hour or so for three days, and I remember watching the sub hunters working in the Straits and being absolutely fucking terrified that we were going to die. One of my friends spent four years battling trump’s racist immigration policies to get a green card so that he could rejoin his wife in the US; the application was approved within a couple of weeks of Biden’s election. The Conservative party in Britain shares funding and strategists with the GOP, so any rightward lurch in US politics is closely followed by a similar move to the right over here. Trump’s talk of disbanding NATO and removing the Pacific fleet caused political instability that directly affected billions of people with almost no consideration for them, as the rhetoric was only ever intended for domestic consumption.

I could go on listing ways that US politics directly affects the rest of the world, but I’ll leave it there for the sake of brevity. Suffice to say that the feeling that we are all ruled by the POTUS but only US citizens get to vote to decide who it is isn’t exactly uncommon in countries that aren’t the USA. The expression “America sneezes, Europe catches a cold” exists for a reason.

Between Trump’s election and Brexit (another vote I wasn’t able to participate in due to not living in the UK at the time) I feel that I have lost well over half a decade of my life to the the constant drip feed of disingenuous fascist bollocks that these two “democratic” events have led to, and having no way to affect the outcome of either process.

Yes. I am aware. And despite your efforts to put words in my mouth, I never said I minded commentary from people in other places… what I dislike is the sometimes condescending attitude that we Americans are ignorant of the society in which we live, or that we’re all ignorant of the rest of the world…

And once again, do you think I (or other Americans here) are unaffected by what’s happening in my own country? :woman_shrugging:

No, but comments like:

and

Certainly seem to carry some “we’re living through it and you’re not” vibes, which I think most people outside the US would see as rather unfair.

Anyway, I originally weighed in about the Austrian article, and why even though the headline was mistranslated, there is a perception (albeit incorrect) over here that the crimes are relatively minor (and have taken entirely too long to bring prosecutions for) when the election interference, sedition, RICO offences, etc etc are seemingly right there.

It wasn’t my intention to offend or put words in your mouth, so I’m going to go spend the evening mashing the F5 key on a live feed of the proceedings. Fingers (and all other crossable body parts) crossed!

Seeing Marge get run off was worth it though right?

What did you expect? The affair itself wasn’t illegal, nor was paying Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about it.

I haven’t seen the detail list, but MSNBC has tacked on a “and conspiracy”
