The spot itself doesn’t use the term “mommy issues” or make any direct reference to Trump’s mother, it’s about his longstanding and deep-rooted misogyny in general.

According to family members, his mommy used to spare him Fred’s wrath when he acted out as a child (e.g. throwing rocks at a baby in a playpen). Eventually he did something so horrible that even she couldn’t save him and Fred sent him off to military school (an environment that only exacerbated his worst tendencies).
Any woman who doesn’t enable him is going to be the object of his hate, scorn, and abuse. So I suppose mommy issues play some role in his misogyny. In the end, though, the cause is less important than the track record of behaviour itself.

Hell if I know. It seems reductive to blame his mom for his misogyny even if she did style herself to look like a villain from an early Tim Burton movie.

I’m not blaming anyone but him. He may as well be a comic book shop, after collecting so goddam many issues.
ETA:
I mean, ofc his parents contributed, but he’s now an old man. He’s had plenty of time & opportunities to process & grow psychologically more mature than, say, a screaming toddler in a playpen, pissed AF b/c wants toy and bottle and no one’s paying attention to him.
Only he never did that. His still being stuck in that playpen is now all down to him and no one else.
