Oh, don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate rotary wing flight, but I much prefer to do it from the ground. I’ve had the pleasure of being overflown by a passel of V-22 Ospreys, which is another aircraft I like but prefer to like from a distance. I just have this weird thing about positive and/or sustained glide ratio

True, the glide ratio of helicopters is crap. But on the other hand you fixed wing people have to find an actual long landing strip. Helicopters not so much.
