It’s not only gender that gets enforced unequally; women of differing body types will get different reactions to the same outfits. My daughter is exceptionally skinny, she has almost no breasts or hips to speak of. She would routinely and egregiously flaunt her school’s dress code and never got in trouble for it. Sometimes she would stroll right past an authority figure who was reprimanding a more “adult” figured girl in an almost identical outfit.

I’m sure this was opened in good faith, but this topic has devolved into two sides attacking each other as disingenuous. Which is unfortunate, because this is an important topic worth discussing.
Unfortunately, These topics seem to inevitably result in four camps: 1) of course any dress code is wrong 2) of course any dress code isn’t wrong, otherwise everyone would be naked 3) of course dress codes are fine if they’re not gendered and 4) of course dress codes need to be gendered because different genders wear different clothes - and none of these camps ever give an inch.
