Drums of War

I had not heard of the Emu War until now. This made my day. Thanks for posting it.

“Pompeo listed 12 demands that range from Iran ending all uranium enrichment and providing anywhere, anytime access to “all sites” within the country to stopping support for Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran’s other historic partners in the Middle East. He also demanded that Iran withdraw “all forces under Iranian command” from Syria, where Iranians and Shia militias have been fighting at the request of the Damascus government.” -Axios

These demands are from an unachievable neo-con wet dream and will ultimately lead to conflict.

Missing from his list was that Iranians must stop speaking Farsi and switch to English.

Fear factor:

Shaping minds to be more approving of defense spending? or they know something we don’t?

Late to the party, but basically Sweden took the '90s-to-early-'00s “end of History” good feelings too seriously, and ended up downsizing their considerable and potent Cold War -era military into something that couldn’t actually defend the country in case of a military crisis. They’ve been scrambling to rebuild things for the last couple of years, once the events in Ukraine and increasing airspace violations on the Baltic reminded everyone that Russia is still there and still isn’t playing nicely.
