13 / 16: You know your Poe—and are very in touch with your emotions. Applauds somberly
(And at my age, I like those bands, too.)
I got 11 / 16 with the same descriptor. Was going to be happy to get 1/2 right. Every once in a while I found myself saying “that band is emo?”
“Say “Hello” to the new “Tickle Me Emo” doll!”
Edit: Darn it actually exists. Curse you, Capitalism!
14/16. I was guessing essentially on cadence alone. Funny enough I was so wrapped up in thinking about it in that way I got one of the two ones I actually knew wrong. (It was one of those things where as soon as I clicked, before I even saw the answer, I thought, “Wait!”)
i also got 11/16. i’m sensing a pattern among Bb readers, lol
11/16 for me too. I was thrown by Poe getting quite fractured in some of his writing.
Ooh! 12/16! And who knew I was so in touch with my emotions?
Only 9/16. At least I’ve read the Raven. (Among many others, actually.)
Blech. I need more coffee.
11/16 also. I memorized The Raven for some reason in 4th grade, but outside of The Bells, it was about the only poem I was really familiar with.
“The Bells”, because it’s the first thing in his collected works
11/16 seems to be the mode, ayup.
Makes me think of the sort of thing that tends to appear on McSweeny’s. I don’t check in there much lately; it’s gotten a little too depressing – but those are the times we live in.
15 out of 16. Same somber applause.
I got 12/16.
Poe’s quotes just seemed more literary.
The first place I ever saw this was a defunct site called the Brunching Shuttlecocks. The best one was My Little Pony or Porn Star. A bunch of my friends took it, I think our mode was 2/10 - way worse than coin flipping. That included several people who had played with My Little Ponies as children. The highest score anyone I knew got was 6/10, and that was knowing about 4 of the correct answers, so they still did worse than guessing on the ones they didn’t know.
I also loved Original Series Star Trek Episode or Christian Rock Band.
My favorite from You Don’t Know Jack was “Pasta or Italian Composer?”
I mean who doesn’t love Fusilli’s opera overtures?
When I wasn’t sure, I tended to guess Poe. 13/16.
Wow - TIL that this was a Poe-m:
God I loved that band, not sure you could describe them as emo though…
