Looks like a hyrax to me. If so, it’s not a rodent; hyraxes are related to, er, elephants.

In my social life I am that rodent.

Are you sure? They don’t sound like even the angriest elephant.

It’s more of a matter of common ancestor (i.e. they’re in the same clade) than modern resemblance.

I’ve just checked online and apparently they’re related to manatees/dugongs, too. Weird ‘family’.

Obligatory repost of the irate rain frog. I’ve had mornings like this. But, in his case, I think the translation is “I have sand in my everywhere.”

Thanks for this, @beschizza. I’ve archived this in a list of links to watch for self-care time: laughs, squee, and seeing my essence of Self reflected in a tiny animal. I really needed something like this today.

This hyrax video benefits tremendously by being tastefully short and cut off at just the right spot. Hyrax videos lose their energy so quickly.

The original black and white film is pretty good too. Dated, but still interesting. I saw one pic of cosplayers who painted themselves to look like the actresses in the film in black and white with grey clothes and a pod, etc.

Hydrax: Omigod, it’s a big ugly demon!!! AAAAAAH!
