I will add that Gillibrand and Durbin voted against it. Why would they sponsor it?
cowards from both sides
And this is why the NSA will always win, and the EFF will always lose. If Democrats are going to be shat on just as hard for some of their members’ votes as Republicans are for all of their votes, then it’s stupid for any of them to waste their time on this issue.
Painting the NSA as the villain here is not going to help; they’re just a tool. The villains are the people who give them instructions, and the people who are OK with those instructions, namely Congress and the US public. As a regular donor to the EFF, what I would like to see them do is (a) more outreach, especially to the vast majority of the public that doesn’t read tech blogs, and (b) more direct pressure on legislators.
That’s a given anyway
What is the legal basis the courts are using to justify this?
Why doesn’t the 4th Amendment stop this?
Nine likes on the OP, with nine replies.
Pretty sure I’ve never seen that ratio so high…
Well, at least both my senators are in no. Merkley and Wyden seem to have a good firm stance against this sort of thing when they can.
And Cruz. Having their cake and eating it too?
