You’re missing the point, so I’ll say it again, when there are armed thugs acting in a threatening manner if FEELS longer and that is what counts here. You’re basically just dismissing what the people in that house had to deal with, because you don’t find 8 minutes to be long… I assure you, in the same situation, you’d not feel it was short, because it’s really not.
Well, they weren’t looking for a phone; that’s for sure.
Right?!? It should never take 8 minutes to remove yourself from someone’s private property. You can sort that shit out from outside the house.
But hey, when it’s someone else’s safety, it’s really fucking easy to treat it as an intellectual exercise instead of the violation of people’s rights that it actually is… I mean, it’s online and everything, so it’s not even REAL people… /s
It’s not our fault you can’t last eight minutes without thinking it’s over.
They never should have entered, and once the owner told them they had the wrong house, it should have taken them less than 10 seconds to leave and figure their shit out.
Yeah, that’s what gets me. It’s like they were there under the assumption that somebody had made a prank call to 911, which is so not the kind of situation that requires 8 cops barging in to begin with. It is also the kind of thing that can be handled in the doorway without crossing the threshold. There’s a huge difference between sorting something out inside somebody’s house and sorting something out on the porch.
Because finding the emergency in order to deal with it wasn’t the actual goal.
If only a group of public servants, specifically trained to deal with such situations, had been called to the scene to solve the issue.
Time, like everything else, is relative.
If someone took away your access to oxygen for 8 minutes, I’m sure it would feel like an eternity…
Six seconds. The “relatively short” interaction with the real police took 80 times as long with 8 times as many people involved.
Not enough mention about the harassment victim’s prior interactions with the police, including an existing complaint against one of the cops that was on site. This was intimidation, pure and simple.
