Elon Musk says civilization will "crumble" if we don't have more babies

Not trying to induce nightmares, but that assumes we’re still following the constitution and all that. I’m no longer sure of that anymore.

He’s gonna croak before then. I’m actively willing it into fruition.

Elon is just a jerkoff with little if any value to offer to any discussion.

I can already see their “logic” working on the fact that George Washington also wasn’t born in the United States of America.

Sounds like there are at least nine winners here.

Once more for overflow:

Because nothing makes you want to take on massive debt and the morbidity risks of pregnancy to have babies like envisioning a future where they, like you, can only aspire to work in a factory until an early death.

Pretty messed up for any parent to expect their kids to produce grandchildren by the time they’re 14.

how many years ago did musk cross the line into being a liability rather than an asset to Tesla and SpaceX? When are these companies going to get rid of him?

Fixed that for ya, Elon. An economic system that relies on never-ending growth of a consumer base is, indeed, threatened by stabilizing population growth.

But civilization itself, not so much.

No, he thinks that it in a dangerous solar system full of unseen rocks whizzing around, it is better to have two planets with humans on it than one.

I don’t know if I agree, but the reasoning is at least clear. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Jesus. We already knew he didn’t understand AI or economics, two issues he seems to hold court on a lot. Now he doesn’t understand math? When my dad was born there were 2 billion people in the world. When I was born there were 4 billion. Now my brother has had kids (I decided no fucking way for a multitude of reasons) there are 8 billion, and the vast majority of our problems as a species are either directly or indirectly linked to that increase. It’s not tricky to understand.

That Musk fellow is really not a smart man. Not even remotely. I really wish he’d disappear from the world stage.

If you listen to his interview with Tim Dodd, it is clear he’s done some other stuff…

For example, he admitted that while trying to fix a manufacturing problem on the Model 3, he’d violated every one of his rules for good engineering that he tries to teach his team. If this is him “claiming credit”, he’s claiming credit for one of his underlings exhibiting tunnel-visioned engineering stupidity. I think it is is more likely he’s actually a pretty good engineer, and also a pretty good leader (because it takes a good leader to communicate the importance of a lesson by admitting he’d failed to heed his own lesson and paid the price).

I think he should STFU about politics and society and just be a good engineer, because he’s clearly better at that…

Even if the Earth did get hit by one of those end-of-the-Cretaceous-era sized rocks it would still be a much, much more hospitable place for humanity than Mars even if we were able to somehow terraform Mars.

I’m so glad I saw that “/s” tag. You really had me for a second there!

That’s why I always use an /s… because this is text based discussion and it’s easy to misunderstand one’s meaning…

Also… dismantle ICE!

That’s not so much an idea as recognizing someone needs to have an idea, and it definitely does not belong to Elon Musk.

But that definitely sounds like a terrible idea, given that they should be replaced with nothing. And fits well with this topic, since you’d think an immigrant who worries about his country needing more people should not be interested in working with something that only exists to keep other immigrants out. Frickin’ kapo too apparently…thanks for pointing that out.

“I think it is important for us to die because most of the times, people don’t change their mind, they just die. If they live forever, then we might become a very ossified society where new ideas cannot succeed,” he said.

Rather than a deep insight into the human condition, this just shows that Musk has been watching ‘Foundation’.
