One of the points of the movie was to show how, in a manner of speaking, the same souls occupy multiple bodies over time. That’s why we have the same dozen actors each appearing in four to six roles though the past, present, and future. They play different races and even cross sexes. You would have used a race- and sex-matched actor for each of those roles but that would pretty much lose the souls-through-time effect which is pretty much the primary point of the movie.
And who would play the genetically engineered race in the future?
You could, I supposed, use an asian actor for the asian character and then use CGI to make them look more like the white actor playing the back character. This would keep the souls-through-time theme alive; but what would be the point? That’s like complaining that the actor inside the full suit of French armor wasn’t a French actor. You can’t see the actor at all.
I don’t find the use of non-race-matching actors to be racist in this case. Unlike Depp in the Lone Ranger, this movie required it.
