Indeed, I suspect their “service” will consist of playing a few shows at barracks and riding around in trucks. Maybe fire a couple of guns for photo ops. It would have been bad optics for them to try and get out of it, so I think they did the right thing by appearing to do their civic duty.
Every country with mandatory service has… shall we say…varying levels of “service”. A wealthy Jewish acquaintance of mine went off to do her service in Israel and it was pretty much an 8 month beach party, with some selfies taken with big guns. She sure as heck wasn’t doing any boot camp or learning Krav Maga.

They will not all serve at the same time. Conscripts serve for eighteen months but, as the article says, they will not all be back together as a group until 2025.
There is a K-Pop group whose members decided to serve at the same time, ONF.
