Eyeball planets

I thought so too. I just didn’t have time to look into my thought experiment today, and figured I’d take a short cut and ask the smart people on this site what their thoughts were. Thank you for your reply.

I had forgotten about that book! I read it a couple times in high school and always wished that there were more of it.

Wiki: The novel is set in the year 2312, in the great city of Terminator on Mercury, which is built on gigantic tracks in order to constantly stay in the planet’s habitable zone near the terminator.

Thinking about it some more, I guess it’s conceivable for the moon to have the same rotation as the period of the planet so that it always shows the same face to the star. But it wouldn’t be locked in any way; normal processes would tend to slow the rotation to lock it to the planet, I think.
