I’ve been using this add-on/extension to help redirect search results away from Fandom, if an alternative is available.
This reminds me of some drama that surrounded Fextralife, a wiki site that i used early in the Dark Souls days. The community there was great, made some friends and i contributed to the info and occasionally used their forums with overall good success for the time that i was playing DS 1 and DS 2. I was so excited about the community because a lot of people but a ton of effort into collaborating with Atlas and FromSoftware to release a thorough guide for one of the games (i forget which).
I was surprised to find out earlier this year that Fextralife has a reputation for being an awful wiki and community, it really bums me out and i don’t know why some of these wikis have been managed so poorly.
Miraheze doh! Where have you been, under a rock?
[Edit: derp, was so excited to share my 2c I missed how Rob cited just this in his blurb]
I’m doing my part!
I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft again [1] [2] lately, and of course have to refer to the a wiki regularly.
Did you know that the Minecraft community officially moved away from Fandom in September 2023? You wouldn’t know that from search results, where Google still brings up the Fandom wiki first.
But if you follow the (now usually second) minecraft.wiki links in the results instead, Google takes that into account. I’m happy to see it steadily rising in the results.
[1] there is no age limit!
[2] ATM9 is great for this logistics games fan
