Fast food executive complains that social media inflates young people's "self-importance," killing their willingness to work for free

It’s mind boggling to me that corps. are blind to this, what with having zero effective loyalty or sense of duty to employees. Back in the non-existant utopia days, one could count on a company “being there” for you in your “golden years,” the myth goes. Why on earth should anyone expect loyalty from an employee when it’s not reciprocated? Let alone the example set by C-suite types who make “lateral” moves on the regular.

I mean even if you just roll with cold market driven true believer shit. Why would some one stick around if a competitor is willing to pay them more and your not? Now rather than eventually?

That guy is in the wrong business. Sounds like he wants to run a NFP charity with volunteers. Something like building homes for the needy, maybe running a charity where you fix up peoples houses with small home repairs, volunteer grass mowing for old people, or teach car repair, etc. There maybe he could merge this idea of free work in exchange for experience and funded (partially) by the government.

The For Exposure Twitter account is pretty established. They take submissions and redact any identifying information. Unless the submitter trolled For Exposure, which I heartily agree would be better than it being a business owner’s real post. Ugh!

This one isn’t quite as terrible, but still farcically asinine…

TL;DR ~ “We’re massive douchebags who treat our understaffed overworked employees like dirt, ghost applicants, insert harassment disclaimers into our negging job postings and spend our time litigating attire and buzzwords instead of running a professional business, but it’s totes okay because we claim to be hip and use the word revolution.”

“Rogues are willing to shun titles and personal financial success in pursuit of the greater good.” = “Put in overtime doing the work of several people for a low-ball salary so we can keep all the profits for ourselves which we’re not even going to bother putting into growing our business.”

I looked at the Twitter thread. Rogue brewing piped up and said it’s a posting from 2013. They have HR now, and have figured out what they’re asking for in that position is absolutely ridiculous.

At least they learned their lesson.

Figured out its bad PR and a liability risk.

Craft beers got a bad problem when it comes to paying people fairly. And Rogue doesn’t have that rosy of a reputation.
