My impression when I was living there was that the Norwegians are pretty satisfied with the status quo. (Though there s a different government in place now, so who knows.)

That’s the point. They have pretty much all the advantages of membership – favorable trade agreements, ease of travel, and so on – without the financial contribution to the EU, the regulation hit on their small farms and other industry, etc. Joining would be a big net cost for them. They periodically discuss it, and reject it. They might bring it up again because of the crisis in Ukraine, but unless attitudes have really shifted in the last couple of years I don’t see it happening.
