I imagine if you had to fight people saying you can’t do it and people like you don’t belong there for 70 years already to get where you are, then your’re not the kind of person to listen when people tell you that you can’t do it and need to stop because people like you don’t belong there.

I am reminded of a Soviet joke from the era of stagnation:
“In the days of the Tsars, power was handed down from father to son. Today, power is handed from grandfather to grandfather.”
