Guaíba lake, back to its bed, ending the flood officially in Porto Alegre. Photo taken on May 31st. We still have neighborhoods flooded, because the water can’t flow away and the water company is failing stupidly in pumping it out.

I asked friends in Toronto about this a few weeks ago. They surprised me by saying demand was so high (and hydroelectric resources too low to meet it) that they’re going nuclear:
