The Guardian has a problem with a meta tag which is messing with the one-boxing. What they meant to say:

I’ve been out in 50°+ C a few times while travelling around the central deserts.
I usually describe it as “killing weather”.
If you’re careful and you know what you’re doing [1] you can manage it, but if shit goes wrong you die. Quite quickly, albeit very uncomfortably.
