Floods, Fires, and Heat Domes (the climate change thread)

can comfirm. mum and i spent a week in KW last month and it was HOT, sweltering, sauna-like temps + humidity, punctuated by torrential deluge from afternoon squalls that continued well into the night. low temps? mid 80s all night. morning was steamy and near 90F.
here in the upper keys, not much different. sweltering, muggy days; heavy afternoon rains.
this is also our peak time of year for nasty tropical storms and worse hurricanes.

every red dot is a fire;

overlay carbon monoxide concentration; the black spots (green circle example) are intense fires, exceeding the normal amount (~60 ppbv) with over 3500-4000 ppbv. looks like over half of brazil its at least around 400-500 ppbv and the nw neighbour states getting a lot of the pollution too. (e/ to toggle “fires”; click “bio” → “annotation” → “fires”)

stay save, @BakaNeko.

Thank you. I am OK. The situation in Rio isnt bad as the rest of the Country. In Brasília, for example, the fire is raging.

In a shocking development, IPCC models again underestimate how screwed we are.
