That’s a fine take, but here’s another: If Uber doesn’t have a firearm, he and his fare are sitting ducks in that Prius on the side of the road when Wacko blocks them in and approaches in anger.
I don’t necessarily disagree. My fine take about this sheriff stands despite that.

Pled out? Hardly. Alexander was sentenced to two years on house arrest with an ankle monitor, as I recall. Her abuser walked.
If someone has a gun and threatens you, you believe them.

Honestly, it still feels like you are making judgement calls with the benefit of hindsight, post event revelations, and are making no attempt to view the event objectively.
She was originally convicted for like 20 years, got a retrail and got plea deal. MY POINT WAS THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOUND NOT GUILTY, BECAUSE SHE WAS LITERALLY STANDING HER GROUND.

I remember this. It happened right after Zimmerman was found not guilty. She shouldn’t have even been arrested or questioned.

Absolutely. As I’ve already stated, clearly, I sympathize with the shooter, who must feel terrible. My point, which I seem to be having trouble articulating to people here, is that if the shooter had not had a gun, there would probably be one more asshole breathing right now, and capable of learning from his mistakes.
