During a welfare check on the individual, officers spotted suspected narcotics in plain view.
During the search of the vehicle, the two officers at the scene said they started to feel the effects of what was suspected to be fentanyl found in the car.
Both suspects were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, according to police.
It’s puzzling that the officers had to be hospitalized, but the suspects weren’t? Presumably, they were inside the car and exposed to the fentanyl for a longer period of time.
