We had a very very large garden in the 80s. It was the recession and my dad was out of work for a time, and then found a low paying county job. We even made a corn field on the neighbors land (giving her a portion of the corn). We tilled up whole sections of the back yard. (cut down on mowing space!)

I still miss fresh lima beans and strawberries. Potatoes, carrots, beans, corn, the staples. Grew a couple giant sunflowers, even!

When we moved in the late 80s, had a much smaller yard, and dad had a way better job, and from there we still had a garden, but much smaller, and its more or less some tomatoes now that he is retired. But he does have a little gold fish pond he tends to.
