Former Uber engineer alleges sexist abuse in workplace, CEO Travis Kalanick responds

I did 8 years as a contract tech-for-hire in the 90s, then fell for the family’s advice of “Get another civil service job! Benefits! Security!” and took the test, went in for the interview, and got the job. Turned out I wasn’t supposed to get the job, it was promised to someone else, and I messed things up by scoring so much higher on the test that they had to hire me. What followed was two years of hell and harassment, with HR basically telling me it was my fault for not fitting in, and I was just complaining. So I applied for the webmaster opening when it came up, which would be under a different manager. Turns out they re-wrote the position description between the time I applied & I interviewed, so I was not qualified (even though I had a dozen certifications and previously taught CIW classes) because I did not have “a 2 year degree in Web Authoring”. Another manager’s nephew did, and the job went to him.
That’s when I quit my job.

Why would it seem appropriate here?

Granted this was a problem affecting someone who is probably in the 75th+ percentile of American income distribution, but that doesn’t negate their issue (and issues with rampant sexism in tech workplaces).

Me too, Lyft every time, I won’t even install the Uber app because of crap like this. And Lyft is donating $1,000,000 to the ACLU!
