Well, they’re exactly at the level of accuracy and intellectual rigor they want to be, so…
They should ban her from Ikea.
I’m sure this is exactly what caused the confusion at Fox.
Ikea? (IKEA is Swedish, headquartered in the Netherlands.)
Maybe the Carlsberg breweries.
No it isn’t
Isn’t it all basically the same, like Australia and New Zealand? /s… so much s.
I thought they were in the Sudetenland? Latervia?
Small privately owned businesses. Its socialism! It’s anarchy! Nah seriously though how do you make free school and cupcakes sound bad? It’s not possible.
Add the word “abortion”?
“Communism” is like “love” – the definition varies according to … who knows? But it varies.
In this case, I was thinking of “Stalin-style communism” – the least admirable kind – the kind that communist-haters mean when they express their hatred of communism.
They’re everywhere now, but they started as a Swedish company. Ingvar Kamprad, Swedish meatballs, all the crazy Swedish product names…
I vaguely remember an English journalist making the cupcake point about Norway, that the oil industry was so dominant that there was little room left for other exports. As such the only other business option left to ambitious graduates was making cupcakes (which I presume the writer used as a metonym for the domestic service sector in general). A fairly valid point that some braindead Fox writer managed to turn into a mangled attack on ‘Socialist’ Denmark.
Provable descent from the International Workingmens Association (the First International) is a starting point
I know, but that needs to be challenged. Capitalists are not constantly compared to Pinochet whenever they express their political beliefs.
To many “fine” folks on the right, Socialism = Liberalism = Progressive-ism = Communism. They appear unable to discern the natures of the systems they automatically deplore.
For my part, I firmly believe that one thing that is truly worse than “Godless Communism” is Godless Capitalism, and the USA has godless capitalism “bigly”.
But what about Godly Communism?
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belongings were their own, but they all shared with one another everything they had.
33 With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God poured rich blessings on them all.
34 There was no one in the group who was in need. Those who owned fields or houses would sell them, bring the money received from the sale,
35 and turn it over to the apostles; and the money was distributed according to the needs of the people.
I’m inclined to think that the antagonism towards socialism of any flavor in the US is largely a question of branding. Since the word has essentially been poisoned by inadvertent and deliberate misinformation, maybe changing the name would help. E.g. - folks who hate ‘Obamacare’ but love the ACA.
The question is - what to call it…?
They strip people of their opportunities! Like in Danish Venezuela! Didn’t watch the video?
