I’m sure effective altruism still “works” in a cigarette-based economy.

Meanwhile, Studiously Schlubby Sammy is trying TFG’s route to evading legal consequences by insulting the judge, as he meets his new roommate Diddy.

This is funny but I also worry that pairing these guys together could lead to a partnership with some kind of terrible consequences for society when they’re eventually released and trying to figure out their next business endeavors.

Oh, I have no doubt they’re already plotting some horrible joint comeback based on their shared affinity for cults of personality.

My one bit of comfort is that Sammy, assuming he serves his full 25 years, will be 57 when he gets out, and assuming Combs gets 25 years (which sounds like the lowest he should probably get), he’ll be 79 when he gets out. Both of their 15 minutes of fame should be over by then.

OK this is clearly someone’s idea for a wacky buddy comedy movie.

I wouldn’t assume that at all. According to a CNN article discussing how much time he may actually serve, nonviolent Federal inmates can reduce their sentences by as much as 50% under the 2018 “First Step Act” legislation.

I’m still getting used to seeing the Martha Stewart / Snoop Dog varieties of the “19 Crimes” wine brand sitting on the shelves together.

A very valid point, but if he’s already insulting the judge (and given everything I’ve read about his general level of emotional maturity), he might not do very well at parole hearings.

The statutory max sentence was 110 years…she got a helluva deal securing more than 98% off max. Something not afforded to the working folk.

As her (probably very good) lawyers know her money is going to be taken away. I wonder if they get to take their cut off the top first, or if her (normal rich) parents are footing the bill.

That sentence you quote went on for 110 years. :grinning:

(Note that Rob quoted CNBC so it wasn’t him who wrote it.)
