"Glass" on Samsung's foldable phone no more scratch-resistant than plastic

Don’t Flip out or anything, but the ‘flexible glass display’ on Samsung’s latest pholdable doesn’t behave like glass

You owe me a coke.

The company who said they could do it over promised, under delivered, and filed for bankruptcy. Sapphire glass is more scratch resistant than Gorilla Glass but it’s also more prone to shattering. With hardness comes a general lack of flexibility. Basically phones are a bad application for sapphire glass since they are prone to drops and benefit from a modicum of flex.

I didn’t know that aluminum oxynitride manufacturing process was so simple. If the required pressure was a bit lower (250 bar instead of 1000), it could almost be made at home.

That would be something to see. Figuratively speaking.
