For watching Perseids, be prepared for long gaps between bright meteors. In a dark sky area, about one faint meteor per minute is typical. A bright one about every 10-15 minutes. So if you’re in an urban area, and its before midnight, and you stand outside for about two minutes (max children patience limit) dont expect to see much.
