I presume you’re not literally using the term Puritan, since that’s a trivial claim to make. But then you bother to mention the incidence of Christians or monotheists as if that’s a direct corollary to the existence of figurative puritanism (or prudery), which it of course isn’t. Which is why the Soviet Union was so weirdly prudish and sex-negative despite being an avowedly Atheist government, or why Japan, you know, mandates that even its pornography be censored of depictions on genitals, prosecutes contemporary artists who prominently use images of female genitalia.
If you’re claiming that Japan either is or was more sexually progressive than us poor backwards Americans, you could stand to do more homework. Abrahamic religion is not the sole source of all mankind’s hang-ups, despite what Richard Dawkins would have you believe.
Edit: Having watched the video, the influence of, yes, American psychedelia and flower-child sexuality is so strong that, out of context, I would have guessed this was made in the West.
Yes I meant it in a literal, historical way - Puritans are the founders of my nation, celebrated every November. Also, Japan may have prosecuted one artist, but they also gave us words like bukkake. Myself, I never even needed a word for that.
