If the FBI and ATF did that sort of thing, we wouldn’t need the military deal with it. Domestic terrorism is a law enforcement issue as is treason.

I recently read that the FBI has avoided putting a lot of those domestic right wing terror groups onto its watch list because so many of them have infiltrated local police forces that it would give the terrorists a heads up re: surveillance.
The fall elections will result in either triumphalist violence or violent rejection of results. Either way, the US military might as well prepare for operations against home grown insurrectionists. Of course, the US military has a truly terrible record at fighting counterinsurgency,* but better them than us.
*Won every battle in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, comprehensively lost all 3 wars.
