Beat me to it!
I’d make everyone who chortles at our communications infrastructure being wholly run by faceless, unaccountable corporations just because it is politically convenient for them at the time to write “I will not call up that which I cannot put down.” one thousand times. Especially if they like to think of themselves as leftists.
They were sure of themselves too. Censorship is funny thing…often hitting those who had believed they were immune. Concept of defending free speech to protect their own never crossed their mind.
In the violent struggles that ensued across the country, millions of people were persecuted and suffered a wide range of abuses including public humiliation, arbitrary imprisonment, torture, hard labor, sustained harassment, seizure of property and sometimes execution. A large segment of the population was forcibly displaced, most notably the transfer of urban youth to rural regions during the Down to the Countryside Movement. Historical relics and artifacts were destroyed. Cultural and religious sites were ransacked.
“What’s a group of gun oil-huffing video makers supposed to do?
Wind up in cahoots with pornography peddlers, apparently.”
Or was pornography peddlers not really supposed to be derogatory or shameing to those who consume said peddled porn?
You can have your way with the ammosexuals but hands offa my smut ok?
I saw your post pop up before removal, and to answer your question, for the Ruger assembly, you spend an hour trying to understand the printed word instructions and pictures before finally, finally everything slides back into place. You then thank what ever gods you adhere to and vow to never take it apart that far again.
Or, you put it in a box and paid a gunsmith to put it back together. Even if he would look like you are an idiot, odds are it would take him 15 min before getting it back to you.
Also, happy BBS anniversary.
I have a few hobbies myself, but rarely visit Youtube for instruction. I generally prefer written instructions and books, so the library is one of my favorite resources.
I have to admit my question was flippant, which is why I deleted it.
Thank you for the anniversary wishes.
Ooh, I wonder if this is a regional thing… “peddling” isn’t really derogatory in these parts, mainly means “sellers”.
Wikipedia suggests the US looks at it differently than the UK (and likely us Canucks) do:
Neat!
Yeah unless it’s being used as a quaint colloquialism (ie. Ye olde country peddler ) it’s likely being used as derogatory way to describe someone
Details? Does it require 3 hands? That’s what buddy’s for, eh?
Let me see if I can find a video… it just requires a series of steps that are not intuitive, mostly because unlike most pistol designs, where the bolt is attached to a top slide and the whole top slide comes off, the Ruger 22 pistols use an internal bolt. You remove the bolt to clean the gun, and to get it back in requires that you do several steps in a very particular way. If you fail it will either be very hard to get back together, or it won’t function (or both). I have seen experience gun guys try for an hour.
Once you have the procedure down it can be done in minutes, but like everyone else in this age, I learned to do it from youtube.
Fortunately the new Mark IV series they finally made take down and reassembly easy.
That’s good to hear. I have both a mark III 22/45 and a mark II standard. I found the 22/45 to be the worst because along with the problem with the sear/trigger/mainspring steps, getting it onto and off of the frame lugs was a pain. I also did not like the way it felt in the hand (very top heavy)
Thanks for that! I could see how that’d require a bit of practice to get right, especially given jams can take to long to get out of.
My knowledge is limited to the two weapons I carried as an infantryman in the Canadian Armed Forces: FN-C1A1 and 9mm Sterling SMG. The FN was simple and robust… I can still mime the strip/assemble steps. And the SMG was even simpler.
Military arms tend to be robust and simple-ish, as they need to be easily maintained in the field. In the US I know there are degrees of this, what the soldier is supposed to do, and what the company armorer is supposed to do.
Fun fact - the Sterling is the bases of the Stormtrooper blasters in Star Wars and the “live” ones used blanks. They even used a Japanese replica of the Canadian version for some of the RotJ press photos. I happen to have one of the Japanese replicas that had a trooper kit applied to it, but I need to take off the fins and get real T track to make it look more like a New Hope blaster. When done it will be a bit of a hybrid, but still really neat as it is all metal, not a resin cast as most are.
Seems usable for either where I live (central Ontario, Canada). Context and tone guides you to the intended meaning.
Ah, the classic left-handed stormtrooper grip.
