Come on now - they didn’t create this situation alone, the Israels have had a hand in this current stalemate as well. Netanyahu refused to let up on the borders in and out of Gaza, continues to detain people who’ve committed no crimes, and continues to expand settlements in the west bank. He’s essentially undone all of the work towards a 2 state solution since the 90s because he’s appealing to the ultra right nationalists and religious extremists who want Greater Israel. He has no interest in a settlement that would create an opportunity for peace because he doesn’t want a 2 state solution. I’m no fan of Hamas, and they’ve done plenty of work on their own to scuttle any chance at peace. I think they really don’t have the best interest of their own people at heart, but neither does the current Irsael government under the hard core right wing.
And don’t forget that the west supported the development of organizations that would oppose groups who styled themselves revolutionary, because we thought that they were communists.
