Handwriting! How’s yours?
It looks like the mosh pit at the Alphabet Song concert.
My wife exclusively block prints and doesn’t even know cursive. Her handwriting looks like a kindergardner’s alphabet practice. And is Completely. Legible. There is no mistaking any letter she writes, unlike my pretty, flowing, fake sanskrit.
I’ve noticed that the more I consciously try to write neatly the worse it gets. So I just chicken scratch without putting any thought or effort in.
The only time it looks any good is if I’m writing down an equation because it has to look right.
Also I have more practice doing math by hand than writing by hand.
About as reiable as my tyoing.
My mom had ridiculously neat writing and complained about my barely-legible chicken-scratches. Her good writing was “influenced” by ruler-wielding nuns. I went to public school. Go figure.
Yeah, my mom’s writing was similarly neat. She was a left-handed Methodist who attended a Catholic boarding school during WWII, and the nuns still used the ruler to encourage her to write with her right hand. And so she did. Left-handed in everything else, but studiously neat right-handed cursive.
Don’t underestimate the nuns.
Hmmm, if someone ever needs to fake my suicide note, they could do worse than have you write it. (Should someone ask, please say “no” and alert me posthaste!)
You got it, buddy. The fact that you and I are among the tiny minority of people here that know how to pronounce Jamacha makes me an especially dangerous ringer!

Never ever…
One of my college professors used to say, “I always know which signature is yours. It’s the one I can’t read.” They were all incredibly grateful for my Smith-Corona word processor.
Does anyone else remember a PBS show where a woman taught cursive writing? I absolutely despised that. It was a waste of a perfectly good half hour of TV that I thought should be taken up with less productive fare.
What’s going on here, that is unrelated to penmanship.
Are you two actually related?!?!??
Nah. At least, don’t think so. He’s just one of the very few people I’ve met who turns out to live near where my dad grew up.
Sorry, my bad. Sometimes I wish Discourse did allow threaded conversations. I’ll be good now.
Edit: I PMed @Falcor and asked him to move the sub-thread to the lounge gossip thread instead.
I like rolling conversations. No thread policing from the like monster.
Heh. Yeah, no kidding.
Sorry, was’nt trying to complain - I was just very confused about the portions of the conversation that were going unsaid.
'Sokay. You’re still my favorite Michael.
Unlike that other one.
