My neighbour is British (white male age 50-something), but married a American and now holds a valid US passport as well as his UK one. He still gets stopped for random screening flying into the US, and last time, as he was leaving they told him “By the way Mr [redacted], your UK passport is expiring soon, don’t forget to renew it”.
He didn’t even have his UK passport with him, they just wanted to let him know that they knew he wasn’t a ‘real’ American.

True, just an accent is sometimes enough to peg you as someone a certain type of border guard thinks has no business being in the U.S.
