I’m waiting for platinum
Ruby-studded platinum with diamond borders please. Anything else is for the commoners.
Why doesn’t he sell checkmarks as NFTs?
It is the (Elron) way.
Gold pressed latinum Mark.
I see your confusion sir, but that is reserved only for Platinum Double Plus Ultra VIP Triple Regal Diamond members, and you have the Platinum Plus VIP Diamond Regal Royale membership, which does not come with the tote bag or complimentary beverage. If you like, I can upgrade you for the low low introductory cost of…
don’t they already have to register to advertise there? or can anyone put up ads pretending they’re eli lilly?
… asking for a friend
I think it’s great that the twats pay 1,000 bucks to make them easier to spot and block. Good work, idiots.
There’s a reason why Twitter added the blue checkmarks in the first place, and Musk seems (deliberately, willfully) unaware of that. Somehow he thinks adding a new tier so that brands can get what they got for free previously is a good move, but individuals aren’t going to pay this, they’re going to get impersonated, and he’s got another lawsuit of the sort that triggered the checkmarks in the first place. I also really hope that brands aren’t willing to pay - that instead, it just drives them off the platform. I suspect they won’t be - if they don’t see value in ads, I’m not sure how they’d see value in $1000 a month for nothing.
I imagine there’ll be heavy overlap with the brands still willing to pay for ads, so the blocking will be doubly easy.
Not only does he seem to be willfully ignorant of the purpose of the original checkmark, he also seems willfully ignorant of the primary audience for the blue checkmark.
The checkmark wasn’t invented as an added-value service for the benefit of celebrities and politicians and corporations, it was added as a benefit for users to have a means for credibly ascertaining whether any given tweet was really posted by the party it claimed to be.
Given what’s going on with Twitter these days, one can only conclude that it’s deliberate on Elno’s part - that he wants disinformation to spread. The site is certainly turning into a hive of misinformation and lies, and if it’s not deliberate he’s far more incompetent than he already seemed.
The new Twitter Blue logo, in all its faux-80s badness
I’m not sure you’re following Elon’s thought process… clearly Twitter Plaid™ is the ultimate checkmark.
… unlike “midcentury modern,” the ’80s haven’t been gone long enough to be cool again yet
They should offer plutonium. It’s like Twitter, toxic, radioactive and you probably don’t want to be anywhere near it…
How so? We’re now farther in time from the 80s than the 80s were from the 50s, and nothing was bigger in the 1980s than 1950s nostalgia. Happy Days, Elvis impersonators, Back to the Future, countless retro restaurants, ironic appropriation of 50s fashion by 80s rockers, etc. etc.
…“ironic” being the key element there
