…
A blue check rather than a scarlet letter huh?
That facial hair is a choice.
Outside of a few weird nerds, the number of paid users will sink even lower because Elon needed his ego to be nursed
What does Twitter think display of the blue check is supposed to convey to users?
It hasn’t meant “this is verified account who is who they say they are” in a long time. Without that meaning, what useful information does seeing it convey about the person posting?
That you could hide it, and that many people choose to hide it, tells us that in reality seeing it conveys lots of bad connotations. All the changes seem like they are just trying to dilute those bad connotations and make it disappear from perception. They might as well just remove it. That would be technically easier, use less screen space, and faster to implement than changing the perception of every user.
This is all was ever supposed to mean. How it became “this person is good/right” is some Stanford Prison experiment human psychology failing.
There are probably countless weird nerds who would tell you that Elon has the most magnificent beard since Durin the Deathless.
And now they all wear the Mark of Elon.
Hail King Trøll, Emperor of all Neckbeards.
Do they smell like the musk of Elon, too? Yeah, probably.
Look, maybe Elon doesn’t have time to spend on his beard. After all, he’s busy running multiple companies into the ground, and then that’s on top of all the hours he spends posting bigoted memes and suing critics. Heck, it seems like he doesn’t even have time for his family…and he hasn’t written any new music in five years.
A neckbeard?
Dear X-using Journalists,
You may have thousands of X followers, but nowadays, they are probably not seeing your Xits unless they actively seek them out because Dilbert Stark wants them to see other stuff in their feed. Like his own Xits, or ads, or pro-Nazi bigotry.
On Twitter you used to have lots of engagement with your followers, but now the ratio of replies to followers is so low, you are probably wondering what’s wrong. The problem is, you’re not using Twitter. You’re using X.
… the guy who gets paid to shave him while he plays video games got sick
It’s interesting, as it fundamentally seems to have just come down to the right being upset with their lack of cultural relevance, a constant sore spot. They saw all the left-wing people with check marks because they were famous, and decided they should have some too, even though they weren’t famous. Elon Musk came up with a (particularly idiotic) system to enact the right-wing desire. Which is why “catturd2” now has a blue mark.
