Heart surgery performed on 25-week-old fetus, after surgeons practiced on a grape

Though the article doesn’t mention it I would guess the Da Vinci system was probably used during the procedure?

That is nuts. Just amazing what some doctors can do nowadays.

Looks like the LA Times page itself has the mistake: it should be CHLA (Childrens Hospital Los Angeles), not CHA (Chicago Housing Authority).

Dr. Ramen Chmait inserted a thin metal tube (he calls it a needle)

Spare me your medical jargon, Doc!

So what was the outcome of the surgery? Was it performed on the fetus of someone who could pay a high fee for the procedure or was it an experiment using the fetus of a low income parent? Inquiring minds want to know.
